Farzad Talakesh, Secretary-General of the Iranian Poultry Federation, pointed to new legal requirements and executive challenges in the poultry industry, announcing the start of a new chapter in organizing the market for eggs and chicken in the country.
Talakesh stated, "Egg packaging can no longer be attributed to guild interests or traditional resistance. Today, observing hygiene and packaging standards for raw products is a legal obligation."Â
Referring to the losses incurred by poultry farmers in the first five months of the year, the Secretary-General of the Poultry Federation stated, "During this period, the selling price of eggs was less than 50% of the production cost. Only through government support, including export facilitation and a guaranteed purchase price of at least 40,000 tomans, producers could overcome the crisis."Â
He added, "The export of over 55,000 tons of eggs, coupled with increased demand during the autumn season—particularly from the food processing industry—led to the gathering of the egg surplus and a relative stabilization of prices."Â
In his address, the Secretary-General of the Iranian Poultry Federation highlighted Iran's position in global poultry production, noting, "While Iran ranks 8th worldwide in egg production and 9th in chicken meat output, the sector falls short in quality, hygiene, and consumption productivity. Reforming consumption patterns and ancillary industry frameworks is imperative."Â
In conclusion, Talakesh expressed hope that the full implementation of the law and the integration of packaging culture into the general consumer basket would bring this significant transformation to fruition next year. Â
