The global sales value of mutton and lamb meat is $8.4 billion

 

In 2023, the global sales value of mutton and lamb meat reached over $8.4 billion, with Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom being the largest exporters in this sector.  

According to published global reports, the annual worldwide production of red meat is approximately 350 million tons. This figure includes beef, lamb, goat, and other types of red meat.

China, Australia, and New Zealand are among the top lamb meat producers globally. 
In fact, China is the largest producer of sheep meat, but it allocates a significant portion of its production to domestic consumption. Meanwhile, Australia is one of the leading exporters of sheep meat, particularly to Asian and Middle Eastern markets.

Notably, Iran—as one of the leading consumers and producers of sheep meat—has been making efforts to boost production and enhance its quality. 
Global reports also indicate that international sales of sheep meat and lamb exports reached $8.4 billion in 2023.

Top exporters of frozen mutton
On the other hand, in the frozen sheep meat export market, Australia dominates the sector with exports worth approximately 2billion dollars, securing the top position. New Zealand follows closely in second place with ∗∗2billion dollars securing the top position. New Zealand follows closely in second place with∗∗1.9 billion dollars in exports, while the Netherlands ranks third with $163.3 million dollars in frozen sheep meat exports. 

In general, global frozen sheep meat exports have seen mixed trends in recent years:
•    Modest long-term growth: Since 2019, international sales increased by 1.3%
•    Recent sharp decline: Between 2022–2023, exports dropped significantly by 15%
